KARA HARWICH
Kara Harwich is a bold and dynamic attorney, who infuses her practice with a contagious zest for life. Her unwavering enthusiasm, forged through her own journey of resilience, enables her to connect with clients on a unique level (she’s happy to share more of her story over coffee, anytime). This knack for building genuine connections with each client allows her to custom tailor her strategies to serve that client’s distinct circumstances and needs. For the client, it's having a trusted legal guide, a relentless advocate, a supportive friend, and a nurturing life coach rolled into one. Kara defines a “win” as empowering and positioning her clients to stride confidently toward a bright and positive future, without need to look back. She achieves this by attacking legal issues head-on, committed to performance-driven outcomes, while also championing and mentoring her clients through every step of the process.
Whether through high-conflict divorce matters, delicate child custody issues, continued advocacy appealing judgments to the Colorado Court of Appeals, or empowering abuse victims to find their voice, Kara puts her natural ability and extensive knowledge to work for her clients - proven by a track-record of securing favorable client outcomes through tactful settlement or skillful litigation. Prior to founding Harwich Brickey, LLC, Kara honed her litigating skills while serving clients throughout Northern Colorado in family matters including divorce, child custody issues, modifications, and Grandparent rights. Notably, Kara leverages her robust legal acumen and proven skill in crafting legal arguments to serve her clients in the higher courts. Whether pursuing (or defending against) an appeal before the Colorado Court of Appeals, or petitioning the Colorado Supreme Court, clients trust Kara to tirelessly advocate for their rights at all levels.
Outside of the office or courtroom, you can find Kara cycling, running or skiing around our Colorado mountains with her husband (also an attorney), their three kiddos, and Yoda.
MELISSA BRICKEY
Introducing Melissa Brickey - upon walking into Melissa’s office, you will be met with a demeanor that soothes even the most turbulent legal storms. Melissa is not only an expert advocate, but provides her clients with a reassuring presence. With Melissa in their corner, clients receive top-tier legal representation as well as a personable guide to navigate difficult legal waters.
Melissa has tried numerous jury trials and has spent the majority of her career in the courtroom both as a litigator and Staff Attorney. Prior to opening Harwich Brickey, LLC, Melissa handled divorce, custody, and adoption cases as well as misdemeanor and felony criminal cases across Northern Colorado and the Front Range. Melissa and her family moved to Fort Collins in June 2020 from the metro Atlanta area where Melissa worked as a Senior Staff Attorney to a Superior Court Judge for over seven years. While a Staff Attorney, Melissa was involved in cases spanning multiple areas of law from family law to complex business litigation to felony criminal cases. Prior to her role as a Staff Attorney, Melissa was in private practice focusing on criminal defense and civil cases. Melissa was also a prosecutor in metro Atlanta for five years before going into private practice.
Melissa and her husband Charles, and son Ben were drawn to Northern Colorado for its natural beauty and numerous outdoor activities. In her spare time, Melissa enjoys riding mountain bikes, hiking with her family and spending time with her three rescue dogs, Bear, Ruby, and Winnie. She also loves college football and cheering on her favorite team, the Alabama Crimson Tide.
